When choosing a retreat location for our annual retreats it has to be a place that resonates on every level.

We like to be near water - the element of change. The people of water tribes are capable of adapting to many things. They have a sense of community and love that holds them together through anything.

We want to immerse our guests in the culture and cuisine of the area.

We choose to work directly with the retreat centers to be sure our guests' needs are met to the fullest extent possible. Also, we are able to develop a relationship with the center long before we arrive for our retreat. Plans go in to motion sometimes a year prior to our retreat date.

We look for accommodations that both invite our guests to connect with nature while at the same time feel luxurious so, you truly feel like you are on vacation.

The retreat center is also in close proximity to the charming, colorful village of Sayulita where you can walk the cobblestone streets perusing the shops and galleries or grab a surf board and hit the waves. Sayulita is known for it's laid back surf vibe with surfing for all levels-including beginners. Surf lessons can be arranged.

We understand that you may have concerns about traveling to Mexico, especially after the February 22 incident. It is important to understand the region you are traveling to when traveling anywhere in the world. We take every precaution to monitor situations via onsite retreat coordinators, the US state department, and local government agencies near our travel destination. The US state department has returned travel advisories to Puerto Vallarta back to normal travel precautions. Additionally, the government of Jalisco issued an official update confirming that order and security have been restored in Puerto Vallarta and other primary tourist destinations. Current reports from Haramara- everything is calm and it's business or, should we say, relaxation as usual.

Magical spot for a retreat. I have brought yoga retreat groups to Harmara for the past five years. Each year has been magical - the setting, the food, the hospitality, the yoga shalas where you can watch the sun rise and set. Haramara is a very, very special place. If you're looking for air conditioning and wifi, it may not be for you. But for rest and relaxation and connection to nature - it's unbeatable. This year the management at Haramara and the owner Sajeela went above and beyond to accommodate a guest who had a medical situation arise on the retreat. Their level of love and caring cannot be over-stated. They bent over backwards to help. Also, I found it very reassuring to find out that there is outstanding healthcare available nearby in Punta Mita. If you are a retreat leader looking for a place to host your group, I do not believe you can do better than Haramara.
